Saddle Bag
First of all I would like to apologise for any inconvenience while using my website. The brand new website (and shop) is being created and that is why this blog returned to its old blogspot address. Soon everything will be available on www.tochastudio.com but this blog works as usual.
As you can see I started New Year with some changes but also with some exciting projects.
I have two new bags ready to show you but decided that the first one will be the Saddle Bag.
I had this bag in my mind for a while and was going to make the pattern when I came across a Pony Express bag pattern by Ujamaa Grandmas. It was a great coincidence because by using their pattern I don't feel like I made a knock-off bag. Ujamaa Grandmas is a charity group and the profit from pattern sales is used to address the consequences of the HIV/AIDS pandemic upon families and communities in sub-Saharan Africa. So, by a purchasing a pattern, one supports this very important project.
The pattern is of course inspired by iconic Saddle Bag designed by John Galliano for Dior. It is slightly simplified compared to the original but still looks amazing in my opinion. I must admit that the look of this bag made of printed Washpapa went beyond my expectations. I enlarged the original pattern to 115%.
For my first version of Saddle Bag I chose Washpapa printed with purple Watercolours pattern by Justyna Anna Smolka. If you read some of my earlier blogs you are familiar with this amazing Polish artist.
I matched the print with Washpapa Sahara that gives a look of a natural leather. As you can see I made a use of my hand-press by applying some decorational studs.
I went crazy with the strap and used a very colourful and eye-catchy tape. But I think that he miniature stirrup is the real cherry on the cake.
I love the bag pattern and am glad that I purchased it as it really simplified the whole process. I can see that I could try and improve couple of things so I will test the changes while making another bag. So looking forward to it.
