Kamasutra

If you read some of my previous posts, you already know Justyna Anna Smółka  and her collection of prints made in collaboration with Washpapa*.

I fell in love with all the patterns but of course could not get all of them. But, when this particular pattern landed in the shop, I could not decide which colour I should choose, so I took all of them (yes, more Kamasutra is coming soon!) as a birthday treat. 

As you know, I like bold geometrical forms, so in this project, I continued to explore the round bag. I made my own pattern with a 30cm diameter and 15cm wide gusset, which made the bag look quite 'boxy', almost like a hat box. 

I couldn't decide which side of the bag should be the 'right' one, so I added a pompom trim on both sides and, thanks to that, the bag can be carried either way. I also used a zip with two pulls. As you will notice, the pompoms and zip are in matching colours but quite contrasting to the rest of the pattern. The purple pompoms look brighter in real life. The depth of the colour comes from their 'veloury' texture.

This is not a shoulder bag. I wanted it to be a cute, small (but not tiny) handbag that you can swing around with. I am pretty sure that a bag like this will not go unnoticed.

*Washpapa is a vegan-friendly material made of cellulose fibers and latex. It is known as a washable paper, kraft paper or vegan leather.
