Monstera Beach Bag
The monstera leaf emblem is this summer’s big
thing, so I couldn’t resist adapting into one of my own designs.
Monstera deliciosa, sometimes called the fruit
salad plant because of the taste of its fruit, is a tropical species often also
referred to as the cheese plant because of the resemblance of its large leaves
to Swiss greyere.
The Monstera Bag features six, large, rib-like
leaves - three in gold Foiled Washpapa gold and three in sahara Aged Washpapa.
Each was painstakingly cut-out with a paper knife
and hand-sewn on to the body of the bag, which is in chocolate Aged Washpapa,
via top-stitching.
Their sheer size dictated that the bag is an
imposing but still classy 60 centimetres long and 37 centimetres high - that’s
discounting the cream-coloured synthetic leather handles.
I chose a white and beige cotton lining to complete
the desert sand effect.
I hope you will agree that the resulting Monstera
Bag is not only big but delicious too.
