Dalahäst Skirt
When I saw this heavy cotton Dala Horse fabric in the shop, I knew I had to buy it and make something from it. At the moment,I am in love with full skirts with petticoats, so I didn't think twice.
When I found the Scandinavian Design Center on-line shop, I was actually looking to buy a wooden Dalahäst to compliment my small collection of folk art.
Of course, it wasn't the only fabric I bought, so you will probably see more similar projects soon.
The skirt is made of two rectangles with plenty of pleats to fit the waistline. I also made in-seam pockets because pockets make every outfit that little bit more practical.
I didn't make a petticoat as I already have one from Lindy Bop. Also, when I was working with tulle in the past, I experienced problems with accommodating bigger volumes of fabric in my sewing room. And, yes, you need quite a lot of tulle to make a nice petticoat.
Do you remember Cut-Out Bag, made of Washpapa washable paper, that I made earlier this year? It is one of my favourite bags at the moment and I think it looks really nice with the rest of the outfit. Should I make couple more for my on-line shop? ;)
