Moon Bag
This will probably be the last post this year and I am very, very excited to show you my latest design. You can see all the photos below, but I would like to tell you more about the material I used to make my Moon Bag.
About a month ago, I came across a company that makes a washable paper impregnated with latex - Washpapa. Its properties are similar to leather, but this material is cruelty-free. You can only imagine my excitement. There are different colours and finishes available so I will test more of them soon.
As a magpie, I chose a shiny platinum washpapa and decided to make a round-shaped bag. I have always wanted to have a bag like that, but as far as I remember, all similar bags that I found in shops were made of leather. Now I don't need to be frustrated anymore because I found a material that is stiff enough to keep the shape and in the same time I can sew it at home using my lock-stitch machine. Of course, I equipped myself with super strong threads and special needles.
Moon Bag or Cosmic Egg?
The name Moon Bag came to me when I decided to use a galaxy printed cotton by Timeless Treasures as a lining. A minimalist design from the outside and something unexpected from the inside. In other words, this bag contains the whole universe ;) Well, the 45cm diameter will be definitely big enough to fit all the necessary essentials.
Cosmic Egg hatched when I showed a photo of the bag to my husband and he joked that it looks like dinosaur egg. Maybe those silver studs made it look more... 'dinosaury'? I will definitely play more with those silver studs in the future, especially that their screw-in construction makes them very easy to use.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful New Year full of new opportunities and positive surprises.
May the universe conspire.
