Spring is here again...

Spring decided to come back to Scotland. It is nice and sunny again, even if the light is still having to fight through the clouds...

I have some good news I wanted to share with you. Last week, I had an interview for a volunteer guide position at Pollock House in Glasgow. I will have an induction at the end of April and start my morning or afternoon 'shifts' once a week or once a fortnight, or more often, depending on my other activities. I already had a wee tour there, but I am very excited about learning more about the history of this place and all its exhibits.

The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden but is also situated in a heart of Pollok Park. I took the opportunity to walk round and was so pleased that I took my camera with me. Everything around was so beautiful. I didn't even realise that I like flowers so much. But, apart from everything, it is good to remember what is a never-ending source of inspiration - Mother Nature, of course.

 

After looking at my photos I looked through all my cabochons and beads and found this pear-shaped ruby in zoisite and noticed that the pattern on the stone looks like pink/purple flowers on a green, leafy background. I decided to use it to make a beaded/soutache bracelet. Happily, I also had suitable colour of pleather, beads and additional stones, like those hematite roses.

I also found some information about the main stone itself. I like to think that the jewellery we wear, apart from the decorative function, has some hidden meaning too.

Always when I work with bigger cabochons/stones, I fear that I might waste it on some not very appealing piece of jewellery. But this time I am quite pleased with a final effect. You can see my love for bright and shiny colours.
