Vintra Papilio

Surprisingly, this year my longing for winter was stronger than ever. I'm not sure if it wasn't actually homesickness and the desire to experience a traditional, family Xmas once again. I definitely wanted a Christmas tree, but because we were going abroad on holiday, it wasn't worth the bother.

Winter in Scotland is not a real winter - again - this year (at least not where I live). I don't even know what it is. It doesn't qualify for any season of the year that I am familiar with - too damp, too dark...

So, while we were heading on holiday to warm places, my thoughts travelled to a Winter Wonderland.

Imagine a clear sky, everything around is frosted, snow squeaks under foot with every step you take and you inhale cold, crispy air into your lungs and suddenly something surrealistic happens and you hear the flutter of a butterfly. There are snow foxes, snow hares, snowy owls, you name it, but have you ever wondered what a winter butterfly would look like?

I don't know where the idea of butterflies in a winter came from. But I must admit that looking at Aurora Borealis Swarovski crystals stimulates the imagination :) Every Magpie-type person should try it.

So this is my vision of winter butterflies.

'Vintra Papilio' earrings are made of soutache, those Swarovski crystals and Preciosa beads and cup-chain. Hooks are sterling silver.
