Gaultier, Madonna, burlesque and my first corset

Gaultier, Madonna, the revival in burlesque. Whatever caused it, corsets have certainly made a comeback in recent years.

So much so that it is part of my textile syllabus at Glasgow Clyde College to make one. I already owned a few bought off the shelf, so I certainly wasn't complaining at having to find out how to make one from scratch.

The buttons embellished with soutache at the front don't serve any purpose other than decoration, but I think they give the corset some added character. I hope you agree.

For the photo shoot, I looked out a red and black choker and fascinator, and a red skirt, all of which I made previously. I can't claim to have made the tights or Vegetarian Shoes (although I did add the bows to the latter).
