Birthday poms poms in the autumn sunshine

This was supposed to be a birthday post, but it turned into an unexpectedly busy day, so I had to postpone it.

Thankfully, the weather really pampered us and you can see a results here. The House For An Art Lover park looked amazing. Unfortunately, we couldn't snap pictures in the garden again because it was a maintenance work day. But it didn't let us down.

To make this set, I used one of my favourite Vogue patterns (again), but this time I made both pieces from the same fabric, so it looks more like a dress. I decorated the hems with a pom pom trim and ric rac.

Some of you probably recognise the fabric and, yes, you are right, it is a Tigeroga fabric from Ikea.
I have always loved Ikea's fabrics because of their design and quality. But now I love them even more because, a while ago, Ikea took another step to support sustainability within the cotton industry and joined the Better Cotton Initiative.

In a nutshell, BCI is a more efficient alternative for organic cotton and more environmentally friendly than cotton farming supported by enormous amounts of pesticides.
As much as we might love the idea of organic cotton and products, organic farming is not able to supply enough cotton for world demand. That is why BCI looks like something that is worth looking into and support.

Of course, I wouldn't be myself if I forgot about accessories ;) My shoes are jelly clogs from Melissa and a bag, which is actually one of my birthday presents, is from Italian company Obag. All the Obags are partly designed by the customers as you can pick your own body, handles, inserts, etc., and mix and match them. The possibilities are endless and it is a lot of fun too.

My next post will feature a design made from my own pattern and I am very excited about it. See you soon!
